For this week’s new blog, I present Faith-Promoting Rumor. John C. set up FPR as his personal blog following the messy break-up of United Brethren in February 2005. But maybe the break-up was a good thing, replacing one small, struggling group blog with three thriving solo blogs (FPR, solo UB, and a re-energized Bird’s-Eye View). Let’s explore this intriguing notion.

The Joseph Seminar

A German philosopher once said, “History … is, indeed, little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.” Happenings in the Bloggernacle this past week mostly supported the truth of this statement, but there were notable exceptions.

The main event this week, of course, was the holding of the Joseph Smith conference at the Library of Congress. The official word is that the proceedings will be published in the spring of 2006.

Catch-Up

I was going to continue according to my schedule this week. However that meant I had to dive into science and the Book of Mormon which frankly I’m just not ready for. It’s been a busy week. So instead I want to touch base on a prior topic, filling in any gaps and answering any unanswered questions. (Not that the answers are necessarily satisfying) Back in my discussion of spiritual reality I mentioned the meaning of “more fine” in D&C 131 and some of Michael Quinn’s comments. By popular request, let me return to this topic and expand a little on it.
