Could We Get Any More Insecure?

This morning I received an email informing me that Paul Allen, the owner of (my beloved) the Seattle Seahawks and Microsoft billionaire recently wrote an editorial in a California newspaper, Santa Clarita, that he’s sick of so many people putting down the Mormons. I thought it curious that this billionaire spent his time writing editorials defending Mormons in a tiny community newspaper, but nevertheless it was a very complimentary letter. (more…)

The Universe Gets Tough

The editorial staff of The Daily Universe published a short editorial criticizing BYU managers for terminating a BYU staff member whose letter (commenting on certain dysfunctional aspects of the supervision of BYU student elections) was recently published in the Universe. [For more on the original story, see this SL Trib article.] I wonder who has embarrassed the university more, the guy who wrote the letter or the managers who fired him? Ironically, the terminated employee is a student in BYU’s executive MBA program. School of hard knocks management lesson no. 1: Don’t criticize the company in public.

“The Worlds of Joseph Smith” conference postmortem (updated)

Church releases new policy to help prevent child abuse

This week the Church released a circular letter that reiterated certain policies that are frequently ignored and outlined several new policies for the protection of children.
