Best of the Box 6
At the risk of interrupting the run-up to March Madness, here are links to a few notable posts from this week’s offerings in the MA boxes.
Box 1 – Juvenile Instructor offers one of many posts on the Mormon view of social justice. Does Glenn Beck read blogs?
Box 2 – FMH takes issue with a recent BYU Devotional. I read the transcript — it’s not that bad. I think the real problem (as noted in the post) is with religion teachers still reading from a 19th-century script. The solution (also noted in the post) is for fathers to tell their daughters to ignore the religion teachers. A strange way to raise young women. Couldn’t we just replace the religion teachers?
Box 3 – Life on Gold Plates reviews a new book, Atheist Delusions, which critiques the New Atheist depiction of Christianity’s history and cultural impact.
Box 4 – A mother learns that a little deception goes a long way raising kids: Leggings With Feet in Them. If you want something a little heavier, ZD offers another critique of that BYU Devotional. Elder Pace obviously broke one of the unwritten rules for talking about LDS women.
Box 5 – At Exponent, read about Christian sexual ethics … as stated by a Catholic nun. Hmmm. Maybe nuns get out a little more than they used to.
Box 6 – There is a lot of traffic in Box 6. LDS Media Talk posts about the new LDS senior missionary website. Plan ahead, and your next mission may be to Tahiti. At LDS Temple Study Blog, a post on Nibley’s new book. And for a post that only a woman could write (see the unwritten rules referenced in Box 4), The Virgin and the Whore.
Box 7 – At Mormons and Science, Joseph Fielding Smith is losing a vote.
Outside the box – ClobberBlog goes to Utah (the first of several reports). Patheos posts thoughts on the Mormon dress code.

I like that.
