Bloggernacle Awards 2005 VOTE!

By: Ronan - December 22, 2005

UPDATE!

OK. Y’all have until Christmas. Owing to the tightness of many of the races (and to redo the “Best Post” award) we will then have a run-off poll for some of the categories that will go until after the holidays. (Believe me, there are some really great races!)

VOTE!

We* have tallied your nominations and are now opening the vote for the Bloggernacle Awards 2005 (the “Niblets“). This is the first ever bloggernacle award event that has opened nominations to the unwashed masses. So, if your favourite blog/blogger is not on the ballot, well, we did our best to make things democratic so quit whining, just vote. (You can vote for more than one nomination in each category.)

The results will be announced in the New Year via a special Zeitcast featuring yours truly and a special guest. We will discuss some of the best “write-in” nominations and interview winners. (Remember, best blogger gets a lovely MA T-shirt.)

Best post links:
- Boob Shelving (“Mammary, All Alone in the Moonlight” by Steve Evans/Jenn: Banner of Heaven)
- Historicity and Revelation (Roundtable by Steve Evans et.al.: BCC)
- Why I Believe (by LisaB: FMH)
- Women and the Priesthood (by J. Stapley: BCC)
- Voices in my head (by Silus Grok: Nine Moons)
- Unrequited love (by Rosalynde Welch: T&S)
- Adam/Steve Zeitcast (by Adam Greenwood and Steve Evans: Bloggernacle Times)
- FAIR Conference Series (by Tanya Spackman: M*)
- Noah’s Ark Room (by Matt Evans: T&S)
- Coffee (by Wilfried Decoo: T&S)

Because it seems crass to vote on such things, we hereby announce that Adam Greenwood’s Betsey Pearl post, and the collective outpouring of faith for the Johnston’s son, are joint recipients of the “Greater Things” award.

Also, because SurveyMonkey will only allow 10 questions, we give the “Sorely Missed” award to Steve Evans, the godfather of much of what we do here, and Kristine Haglund Harris, whose non-pompous erudition must return forthwith!

One last thing: this is all utterly unimportant navel-gazing. We know that. Many thanks to all those — sung and unsung — who make the bloggernacle a thriving community.

*The nominations were tallied by Mrs Ronan (aka FMH Rebecca) who took time away from wiping baby bottoms to pull all this together. An unsung heroine indeed. Thanks love.

  1. You might want to check with Survey Monkey, but it appears you can vote for more than one in any category.

If that was your intent, sorry to bring it up.

  2. Yep, that was the intent.

  3. Niblets? I liked the “Midglies” suggestion. Fewer bad connotations.

  4. I wanted to vote for “coffee” as best post, but it wasn’t on the list.

  5. Ariel,
Good spot. Darn. Hmmm. Let me think how to get ’round this….Coffee is a great post. We may have a run-off vote later (SurveyMonkey only allows 100 responses per poll so I might need to do this anyway).

  6. How did “Good-bye Betsy Pearl” NOT make the best post list? I saw several nominations for it.

    Comment by Ann — December 15, 2005 @ 11:45 pm

  7. Doh! That’s what I get for commenting before reading “more…”

  8. There’s a nomination I never made … but I think the blog “Flooding the Earth With the Book of Mormon” clearly wins the award as the blog most dedicated to fulfilling one of the three-fold missions of the Church. I have no idea what others think of this blog … but I think he’s pretty amazing.

  9. It is good, D. Bartholomew. Makes me feel small.

  10. Ronan,

Thanks for including a separate group blog category. You’re such a softy.

  11. Yes this is the BEST blog site even over my own.. makes you think about things that you’ve taken for granted and now realize there is more then one way to learn things…

  12. Im kind of surprised the “FAIR Conference Transcripts” made the “Best Posts” list. It shouldve been obvious from my nomination list that I wasnt even remotely serious, but apparently it was read literally and not sarcastically as intended. As such, I retract my nominations in the event the “Best Posts” thing does get redone, hopefully it will then fall out.

  13. Kurt,

You were not the only one who nominated it. Forgive us for taking you seriously….

    Comment by Ronan — December 19, 2005 @ 11:21 am

  14. I would have voted for Wilifred’s coffee article, but was unable to ….only 9 of the 10 choices are listed.

    Comment by Lisa F. — December 19, 2005 @ 11:25 am

  15. Ronan,

If a minimum of 3 votes were required to get the entry in, and I withdraw mine, then perhaps that will drop it below the minimum required threshold and it will fall out. Hopefully.

  16. Actually I have to admit I did it as a bit of a joke as well. It’s really just a very brief summary of topics at the conference with little analysis and there were few comments. I thought it was funny. That’s not to detract from my gratitude to Tanya from doing it. I wanted to go and once again have just been too busy this year. But it really isn’t a post that deserves to win.

C’est la vie. Some people took seriously my discussion of my pseudonym of Clark Goble as well thinking that it wasn’t a pseudonym. I guess I just don’t know how to tell a joke…

  17. I’d like to have seen blogs in each of the Arch’s categories, rather than just a couple, that would have kind of expanded the awards in a scaled direction.

  18. One other thought — 2005 was the year where a lot of major ‘Nacle pillars (as well as solo bloggers) switched over to WordPress.

  19. I’ve checked in on the blogging a few times at the library. Not up to speed on this one, but Goodbye Betsey Pearl brings tremendous emotion to me.

Hard time of the year, this.

But…I have a new computer, you guys, which is totally off the subject.

I vote for everybody. I like us. As Janet Lee says her husband said before he died.

I tried to respond to your e-mail and the response bounced, just FYI.
