I was quite saddened when it removed. BYU's football stadium used to have as a claim to fame the largest collection of dinosaur fossils in the world. Although I believe most were moved. That allowed Enrico Fermi to use a room under the west stands of Stagg Field for his experimental nuclear reactor, where the first controlled fission reaction occurred in 1942. And that led, indirectly, to the U.S. Army's 66th Infantry Division not having to participate in an invasion of Japan, and that saved my father from a substantial risk of being killed in that invasion. So, see what good comes from dumping the football program?
