On This Date In Bloggernacle History #1
Launching a new feature today, which will either continue or it won’t, depending on whether or not it proves to be lame.
Here’s the game:
1. Listen to the audio
2. Find the event referenced in the post (date is given)
3. Win fabulous prizes
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Since there isn’t much to go on here, I’ll point out the obvious and give a big hint:
1. There weren’t too many blogs in existence on the referenced date.
2. The blog where the event took place is very much still functioning.

Do I win?
[edited so that others can still play]
Comment by Ben — April 9, 2010 @ 6:05 pm
Yes, Ben, you do. Looks like I need to make it more difficult next time! Of course, the fact that I picked one from 2004 eliminates a lot of the need to search.

Yippee. It was actually a lot of fun going through the archives on some of the blogs–it revealed that a lot of our current debates are just recycled from previous years.
Comment by Ben — April 9, 2010 @ 6:19 pm
Ben,
Totally true. We are all just rehashing stuff over and over. Kinda depressing…
I edited your answer so that latecomers can still play, but you are officially this round’s One Mighty and Strong.

“A lot” is an understatement.
Comment by Eric Russell — April 9, 2010 @ 6:38 pm
Don’t you fear, Eric. It will get tougher.
Comment by Scott B. — April 9, 2010 @ 6:42 pm
Yes, but will it get more interesting!
Comment by Steve Evans — April 9, 2010 @ 6:51 pm
Odds are pretty sour, Steve.

I was actually referring to Ben’s comment that “a lot of our current debates are just recycled from previous years.”
But I still like the following comments in such a light. With “it” referring to “current debates”, I concur with #9.

That is probably right, Eric. Basically the Bloggernacle jumped the shark in late ’04 and we keep jumping it again every 4-5 months.

It is pretty low to put “Never Gonna Give Uou Up” as the accompanying music.. Actually, not just pretty low. Very low.
Was the Neil Diamond?
Comment by TrevorM — April 10, 2010 @ 12:13 pm
I got it. You want I should post it here or send you an email or what?
Comment by John C. — April 10, 2010 @ 1:18 pm
Well I found it. I will only say this: 8 capital letters and 2 ampersands.
Sorry I’m late.
Comment by meems — April 10, 2010 @ 1:34 pm
Yea, this one is pretty easy because you just have to ask yourself “what was the gayest blog in 2004?” and you’ll be there in no time.

Congrats to all finders on this freebie. Next round I will make you look for something even more meaningless in a more difficult location.

John, you should write it on a piece paper, put it under your pillow, and wait for the Bloggernacle Fairy (DKL–you’ll recognize him from the lace wings) to replace it with a quarter.
