President Hinckley remains hospitalized
I just saw this release at the church Web site. I know Guy Murray has covered this hospitalization and surrounding stories at his blog (here, here, and here). Any thoughts or additional insights on President Hinckley’s recent health issues?

KSL Radio just announced that President Hinckley has been released from the hostpital.

Confirming Jim’s comment, here’s a link from KUTV News with the same story.

I don’t understand the correlation between the content of the news release and the title of this post; they seem contradictory.

I think Geoff posted just before the release and the Church website updated the link.

Thanks D-Train. Yeah, that link matched my headline when I posted it.

I think President Hinckley’s enjoyed extremely good health thus far, and has been a vigorous leader. Joseph Fielding Smith and David O. McKay lived similarly long lives, but they were in poor health in their final years. Edward Kimball, son of President Kimball, noted recently that President Hinckley “has been the effective leader of the church” since 1981.

Justin,
I think Presidents Hunter and Bensen were lucid at first, albeit in poor health. I would add that the church seems to go on autopilot when we have a disable church Pres. In other words, GBH wasn’t his own man until he became church Pres officially.
Organizational difficulties aside, not having a retirement tradition for apostles seems cruel, but that is one of my hobbies and is off-topic.
Yery glad GBH is doing well.

I noticed in recent articles that the prophet had a pacemaker installed back in 2001 and recently announced he has diabetes. Considering his age, he’s still doing great health-wise.
