The first round of contributor invitations has been extended — welcome aboard! As acceptances are received, names and topics will be posted in the “Contributors” blogroll on the right sidebar. Those onboard have the green light to put up a post for Sunday night posting. Typepad is pretty easy to use, but here are some quick Typepad tips:

The new WYSIWYG interface for posting is handy but a little flighty — it can be disabled if you’re happier seeing the tags. To modify what options are available on the posting screen, such as disabling WYSIWYG, click the “customize display of this page” link at the bottom-right of the posting screen. But don’t do it in the middle of a post or you will lose your text. In that “customize display” menu you must also select “extended post,” which allows you to put some content on the main page with the rest (in the “extended box”) to be accessible by a “more” link.

You can enable, close (after some comments received), or simply disable comments for each individual post. Your choice.

In the lower left of the posting screen is “Posting Status,” which you should change from “Publish Now” to “Publish On” and then select Sunday night between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m., when it will automatically post. In other words, you can write on Saturday afternoon and the post won’t “post” until Sunday at the time you specify. I’m not sure how it handles different time zones, I guess we’ll find out. Before it posts, you can return and edit or add to the post, so it works like a draft until the post time. I’ll fix any typos I catch and maybe change the order of the posts, and have it all looking good by Monday morning.

  1. Dave,
There is only a “draft”, or “publish now” option under “posting status”.

  2. Ronan, looks like you figured it out. The post time reads 1:35 p.m. Sunday. Problem fixed?
