RJH at the BYU

By: Ronan - October 30, 2005

I’m giving a faculty lecture on Friday at BYU (JSB 382), reporting on my FARMS-sponsored research on ancient Near Eastern apiculture (in light of Ether 2:3). The lecture is open to the public, but it’s at 8am so coffee-starved lay Mormons may be in short supply. Nevertheless, I would love to meet some of my bloggernacle pals and sparring partners. I will be staying with John C. in Orem and John Fowles in SLC.

  2. It’s my dayjob that’s giving me fits … no way I can duck out to hit an 8 AM lecture.

    *sigh*

  3. Hi Ronan- 8 am in Provo is impossible for me as well. But I really wish I could come hear about your research. I live not too far from the Fowles though. Would love to come over and say hi when you’re there. Shoot me an email about scheduling if interested.

  4. That sounds like a cool lecture. I’d get up at 8:00 to hear it. I won’t spend $300 on a plane ticket, though.

    Coming to Duke anytime soon?

  5. So looks like you’re leaving me a lone man in the Garden of BYU.

Ryan, that’s up to the Fowles. I will be there Friday evening.

  6. Hey, if you guys get something going, I’d be interested in hearing about it too. I live just east of campus.

  7. I propose a Salt Lake Bloggernacle gathering in honor of Ronan’s visit. Let’s say 7:00 pm at my place on Friday, November 4. Email me for the address. It’s been a year since the last time we had a Bloggernacle gathering at my place (literally one year ago right about now)–that time in honor of D. Fletcher’s visit to SLC.

I welcome all to attend who wants to meet Ronan and hang out with some bloggernacle participants.

  8. Thanks, John. Sounds cool.

I propose an English theme: come dressed as your favourite Englishman or woman, real or fictional.

    OK, maybe not.

  9. But Ronan, what if you are my favorite fictional Englishman?

In any case, I am across the street from the new Joseph F. Smith Building. FOB 150. Stop by if you get chance. For email, use my last name at byu.edu.

    Good Luck,
    Frank

  10. Can any old Neandertal wander in and listen? I’m always interested in birds and bees info.

  11. Jim,
    I love Neanderthals.

    Frank,
    I’ll drop by.
