This Semi-Week in the ‘Nacle – 3/4/06 [edited for accuracy]
First of all, thank you for your patience. I assume everyone awaits this feature with baited breath and, when I got hit with a lot of work at the end of the week, I was sure that there would be much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of mouse buttons. Or, a couple of terse “hmm”s. So, thanks again for being here.
Second, please remember that the views expressed here are my own, or, at least, ones that I personally copied from someplace in the internet.
So, what was new this week:
EmilyS, at FMH, asked, “Who wants the priesthood?” Well, I don’t know about you, but I know a couple guys who seem to be eyeing Catholicism closely.
Geoff J, at NCT, promotes libertarian free will, but then asks if we are really just the sum of our experiences. Perhaps Kristen loves him because she likes mediating between his two warring sides.
RoastedTomatoes, at LDSF, writes a fascinating post about the ethics of the church in a land of bribery. You all really must go there and comment. It is possibly the best post ever written in the ‘Nacle.*
At T&S, Nate Oman’s triumphal return means more lawyerly obscurities and Rusty shares his likes and dislikes. Also, further proof that we are more interested in image than substance.
Over at BCC, Elisabeth, the one I thought was single, who isn’t, is clearly obsessing over marriage, Kevin Barney is solving mysteries that no-one knew about, and Ronan is, once again, pushing R-rated movies on us. So, the usual.
Davis Bell, at M*, asks a series of disturbing questions regarding moral culpability in an increasingly immoral political and military world (although, perhaps we should strike increasingly from the sentence). If only these questions were as easily resolved as the one he asked here.
Clark Goble posts about the theory that internet communications are low-risk. It is interesting and all, but not nearly as interesting as the date on which it was posted, which surely involved some risk (warping the space time continuum to score blogging points must be high risk).
In the ongoing feminine gross-out wars, MMW‘s regurgatory tale just beats TftC’s (although Kage’s does feature a more exotic location). Next week, I up the stakes by telling you what I found in my nose. Oh wait, that’s been done, hasn’t it?
Ryan, at the Blogger of Jared, basically calls the bloggernacle annoying but loyal. It may also be the beginning of a new feature at the “Semi-Week,” because don’t we all know that open-letters are overdone. He also preaches the goodness of his parent, as does Steve at Ethesis.
There is a simple powerful testimony of home teaching, of all things, at Indy Books.
Eric and John, at small and simple, continue to say interesting things; this time about the Atonement, church activity, and the doctrines of the church.
Also, harpingheather/pdoe offers career advice for all the mothers out there.
Finally, a big thanks to all of you for being you for if you were not you then there would be no you for me to talk about. See you on Tuesday.
*(RT, I expect it in unmarked 10′s and 20′s)

Dude, that would certainly be big news to Travis. All these years he has been under the impression that they were married.

oops. Well, another fine joke ruined by the facts.

John, I feel like some response to your extravagant praise is necessary, but I just don’t know what to say.
Did I ever tell you how cool you are? Oh, and also, how correct you are in your opinions about all things?

P.S. If you talk about bribes in public, they don’t work. Either the briber retracts (AHEM) or both parties end up in jail. Please remember this fact for next time.

Hey, John: why did you think I was single?
Comment by Elisabeth — March 4, 2006 @ 4:17 pm
Um, I don’t really know why, I just did.
