Weekly Zeitgeist
Welcome back, fair denizens of the Bloggernacle.
We are still stretching our legs, getting back into the familiar patterns of blogging, ranting and raving about SSM and other topics. Good to see that the ‘Nacle has been industrious and has already begun its fall madness.
On to the show!
On to last week in the ‘Nacle:
- Miranda PJ, bloggerness superior at Banner of Heaven, quits in a huff. Will she return? The bloggernacle is breathless with anticipation. Sorry Miranda, but we’ve seen this pathetic trick before.
- PGK, one of the new bloggers at Motley Vision, comments on Eve as the source of free will. Interesting post. But Eve is better seen, based on this week’s bloggernacle, as the mother of gross, disgusting child-rearing stories at Feminist Mormon Housewives.
- BCC provides some of the funniest, most interesting content of the week, while M* and T&S recycle their trash. What is this world coming to?
- Ronan hands out creepy pamphlets in city subways.
- “Podcast” seems an appropriate term for mormon content: how better to reach the pod people?
There you have it! Top themes this week:
- Noisy withdrawals from blogging, and the banning of unruly commenters;
- Boredom/Recycling old posts;
- Humor;
- Feminism guised as typical suburban housewifery; and
- Depressing hurricane-related stuff.
Huzzah! BCC won this week, hands down. Curelom, my bloggernacle familiar, grunts in disgust at New Cool Thang, who utterly FAILED at providing posts regarding “satire and self-mockery, along with discussions of apostasy and inappropriate sharing of past sins.” Way to let us down, Geoff and Kirsten. Curelom, my pet! So, so wrong! I expected more out of a mystical creature with ties to the underworld. What’s in store this week? More pre-conference scuttlebutt, some discussion of sexuality and marriage, and some more inappropriate mirth.
Who shall win? Well, the “mirth” quotient rules out Times and Seasons. I predict the Latter-Day Liberation Front will take the prize! Come on, guys!

I think that Nine Moons ought to get a nod for the Silus Grok series. While many in the bloggernacle are sick of the issue, I think that it was a particularly good discussion that managed to stay focused on the more narrow than usual topics of each of his posts.

Steve, we always win every prize that counts. (Hence, we learn that, by definition, no prizes count…)

RT, the pressure is on!! We look forward to apostate scandals at the LDSLF this week.

Steve, I don’t think the “Max Wilson” that posted there is our own JMW. The same guy posted here, but the initials in his email are MDW. I think it’s just a major coincidence.

I dunno, Eric, two out of three initials match. Plus there are no coincidences in blogging. Zeitgeist as ever prides itself on exacting standards of journalistic integrity and every source is investigated until the truth is ferretted out with exhaustive precision.
On the other hand, who cares?

As well, the reason I threw in the towel was completely different than why Miranda’s doing it. with me, blogging was just a small part of it and only one of the things I abandoned. When I got past my slump, blogging was one of the things I brought back (though with a different outlook), despite the fact that some things I didn’t renew.
In addition, the reason I stopped hasn’t changed; it’s just subdued. For now.
